Stoer Lighthouse and The Old man of Stoer
Stoer Lighthouse, was built in 1870 by the famous Stevenson family of lighthouse builders Now automated, the keepers' accommodation is available for holiday lets. A walk to the Old Man of Stoer, a pinnacle of rock or sea-stack, 200 feet high, starts from the lighthouse. The walk is fairly level , but gives some splendid views of the rugged coastal scenery. Walking boots are definitely required.

Achins stocks a range of quality books of Scottish interest, natural history, hillwalking, crafts, childrens and has an extensive range of Scottish music, woolens, knitwear, pottery and cards in the shop too. The coffee shop serves light lunches and snacks, homemade soups and baking and has always has an exhibition of artwork by local artists on too. The shop and cafe are at Inverkirkaig by Lochinver. |

Get the most out of your visit to the area by visiting the award winning Assynt Visitor Centre in Lochinver. Here you will find information and displays about the area, the people, wildlife and history. The building is also home to the local Tourist Information Office as well as being the base for the Highland Council Ranger Service.

Drumbeg Designs Craft Shop & The Little Tea Garden
Drumbeg Designs have unique gifts and crafts inspired by ancient Celtic art and the breathtaking scenery of North West Sutherland. In The Little Tea Garden, home baking, cream teas, homemade soups and sandwiches are served in the sheltered garden. Situated on the Assynt coastal road (B869) at the east end of Drumbeg village.

 Drumbeg Hotel
The Drumbeg Hotel is located mid-way along a 24-mile single-track road between Lochinver and Kylesku Bridge. This stretch of road is perhaps one of the most scenic in Scotland with excellent views of Eddrachillis Bay, Suilven and Quinag. excellent food and a friendly welcome.

Kerrachar Gardens
A unique lochside garden in the North West Highlands situated in its own little bay on the south shore of Loch a'Chairn Bhain. Off the beaten track, the gardens can only be reached from the water - a 30 minute trip by boat from Kylesku.

Knockan Crag
An unmanned visitor centre open throughout the year with information and interactive displays on the landscape and geology of the area. Two circular trails for different abilites, car park and toilets. Situated on the A835 near Elphin. |
Kylesku Hotel
The hotel is situated in Kylesku overlooking Loch a' Chairn Bhain. Bar lunches and evening meals are served with local game and seafood of the season available on the menu. |
Maryck Memories of Childhood
An exhibition of dolls, teddies, dolls houses and toys - much loved treasures from children of earlier generations to the present day. The Tea Room serves hot and cold drinks, soup and home baking while the small craft shop specialises in a small but expanding range of handmade items produced in Scotland. Handa Island
Handa Island is internationally famous for its sea-bird colonies, including the largest breeding colony of guillemots in Britain and there are estimated to be around 120,000 pairs of breeding on Handa! There are also puffin, fulmar, shag, razorbill, skuas (both arctic and great), kittiwake, gulls and terns. |
Bone Caves
The caves above Allt Nan Uamh are amongst the most interesting in Scotland. Excavations have revealed bones of the animals that inhabited this part of Scotland during the last ice age, 11,000 years ago. They include brown bear, polar bear, artic fox, reindeer, lynx and lemming. There is a good 1 mile path to the Bone caves from the car park 2 miles south of Inchnadamph on the A837. |
Assynt Leisure Sport, Youth and Learning Centre
Opened on October 16th 2004 is the Assynt Leisure Centre situated next to the harbour at Lochinver. Downstairs is the spacious foyer, the sports hall, fitness room, changing rooms and a multi-purpose room. The sports hall has three full-sized badminton courts and can be used for a variety of different sports. |
Lochinver Village Hall
On the opposite corner from the Assynt Visitor Centre is the Village Hall. It is one of the places to which the locals flock for ceilidhs, concerts, meetings etc. Visiting musicians and theatrical groups come to Lochinver as part of their national tours, on a regular basis. |
Clashnessie
Within reasonable cycling distance of Clachtoll is the small village of Clashnessie.
On route, you will encounter ruins of traditional croft houses and, depending on recent rainfall, a spectacular waterfall.
